Katy Perry is under investigation by Spanish authorities for filming parts of her "Lifetimes" music video in ecologically sensitive areas without proper authorization.
The video, which shows
Katy Perry enjoying the beaches and nightlife of Ibiza and Formentera, includes scenes shot near protected dunes.
According to the regional government's Department of the Environment, the production company responsible did not obtain the required permits to film in these areas.
While the infringement isn't classified as a crime against the environment, it is a clear violation of local regulations.
Perry has yet to comment on the investigation.
This controversy comes at a difficult time for Perry, who has been struggling to make a strong comeback in the music industry.
Her recent single "Woman's World" failed to chart in Australia, and "Lifetimes" is also underperforming.
Despite these setbacks, Perry is pushing forward with her album campaign, including shooting another music video and preparing for a major performance at the AFL Grand Final in Australia.
This will be her second appearance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, following her performance at the 2020 T20 Women's World Cup final.
The AFL deal is rumored to be worth millions, underscoring Perry's continued star power despite recent challenges.
