The singer, who has been the subject of plastic surgery rumors, took to TikTok to set the record straight.
Gomez, 32, responded to a TikTok video over the weekend that featured a physician assistant discussing potential cosmetic procedures Gomez might have had.
The PA, Marissa Barrionuevo, had previously shared a video analyzing Gomez's facial changes over the years, even considering the impact of lupus, an autoimmune disorder Gomez has been battling since 2014.
''Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes because of flare-up. I have Botox. That's it. Leave me alone,''
Gomez commented on the video. Her response was straightforward, shutting down the plastic surgery rumors that have circulated for some time.
The original TikTok by Barrionuevo showed side-by-side images of Gomez, speculating about the singer's possible cosmetic enhancements.
However, Barrionuevo later expressed regret for the video, acknowledging Gomez's health struggles.
''I think she's been through so much in her life, especially medically related, so I don't think it's fair to speculate whether or not she's gotten cosmetic things done,'' she stated. ''At the end of the day, let's just leave her be.''
Following the backlash, Barrionuevo issued an apology in a separate TikTok video, expressing her admiration for Gomez.
''I adore you,'' the PA said. I really do mean the best, so I apologize if this rubbed you the wrong way in any way whatsoever.'' She also added, ''You don't owe it to anyone to tell us why you don't look the same as when you did when you were a teenager or in your twenties.''
Gomez, in a display of grace, responded to the apology with understanding, writing,
''I love you. Not about you. I just get sad sometimes.''
Her comments highlight the emotional toll such public scrutiny can take, especially for someone dealing with a chronic illness like lupus.
