Jordan Chiles loses Olympic bronze medal

In a stunning turn of events, U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles has been stripped of the bronze medal she won in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) ruled that the medal will now go to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu after it was determined that Chiles' coaches missed the appeal deadline by just four seconds.
The controversy began when Chiles scored a 13.666 in the women's floor exercise, initially placing her fifth.
However, her coaches appealed the judges' decision, arguing that the difficulty of her routine warranted a higher score.
The appeal was successful, and Chiles' score was raised by one-tenth of a point, moving her into third place and awarding her the bronze medal.
But the celebration was short-lived. On Saturday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found that the appeal was filed 64 seconds after the scores were posted-just four seconds past the one-minute deadline.
While CAS doesn't have the authority to revoke medals, the IOC stepped in and made the final decision to strip Chiles of the bronze, giving it to Barbosu, who had originally finished fourth with a score of 13.700.
Despite the disappointment, Chiles remains part of a successful U.S. team, with Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade taking gold and Chiles' teammate Simone Biles earning silver in the floor exercise.
