Latto recently expressed doubt that Ice Spice would engage in a full-on rap battle against her, even though the two have been subtly dissing each other in their tracks for months.
This ongoing exchange has sparked curiosity about what a full-fledged battle would look like in the 2024 Rap Wars, but Latto believes their rivalry will remain a friendly competition rather than escalate into a major lyrical showdown.
In her latest Billboard cover profile, Latto expressed openness to a potential rap battle with Ice Spice, emphasizing that their rivalry is more about healthy competition than actual animosity.
However, Latto questions if Ice Spice is built for that kind of lyrical showdown, seeing it more as an observation rather than a slight.
''If I was to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like Imma go tit for tat with,''
Latto told Billboard. ''I really don't mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that? I feel like she's doing her in her lane. It's two different types of vibes. I don't even think she gives me like, 'Oh, she wants to engage in an actual rap beef.'''
In February, Latto released her single "Sunday Service," which many speculated was directed at Ice Spice.
The Bronx rapper fired back with her track "Think U The Sh*t (Fart)," which drew criticism from Candace Owens.
Latto encouraged Ice Spice to keep taking shots but doubts that the feud will escalate into a major event.
''Everybody gon' take their lil jabs in the music, and it's not even that serious to me; I feel like you should do that,'' Latto continued. ''But, as far as actual whole diss records to each other, I don't think she would even want to do that. I feel like would it even make sense? It wouldn't.''
As the subtle disses continue, fans will have to wait and see if this rivalry evolves into a full-scale rap battle or remains just playful competition.
