BMW announces major recall on latest vehicles: Over 100,000 cars affected

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall on August 1, citing a potential risk of engine fires caused by overheating starter motors.

The recall impacts various models, including the 2019-2020 X5 and X7, 2020 3 Series Sedan, X6, 2020-2021 7 Series Sedan, 2020 8 Series Convertible, Coupe, and Gran Coupe.

According to the NHTSA, repeated attempts to start the motor can cause an electrical overload, potentially leading to the motor overheating and igniting nearby combustible materials in the engine compartment.

BMW owners affected by the recall will be notified by mail.
