JAY-Z is making sure he retains full control over his legendary debut album, Reasonable Doubt, as Roc-A-Fella Records faces a major shake-up.

Legal documents reveal that JAY-Z's attorneys have informed the courts that the album's rights will revert to «Shawn Carter/JAY-Z» in 2031, when the current copyright ownership ends.
This move comes just ahead of a public auction where Dame Dash's 33.3% share of Roc-A-Fella Records will be sold to settle his $823,000 debt from a lawsuit over the 2016 film Dear Frank.
The auction is set for August 29 in New York City, but the buyer should be aware that they'll only have a minority stake with no decision-making power, as all decisions at the label require a majority vote.
With the Reasonable Doubt rights reverting to JAY-Z in less than a decade, the value of these shares is limited.
JAY-Z's strategic legal action ensures that the album's legacy and revenue will stay with him, adding a new twist to the ongoing Roc-A-Fella drama.
