Drake: Hotline Bling inspired by post-hookup calls

On his newly launched 100 Gigs website, the rapper revealed that the song was inspired by a hookup where the woman's phone wouldn't stop ringing after they were together.

He explains that he nicknamed the woman ''Hotline Bling'' because her phone would blow up with notifications right after they hooked up.

"We used to be in bed together�we just finished fucking and her phone would be blowing up," Drake said. "So I saved her name in my phone as 'Hotline Bling.' That's always been her name on my phone."

"I was talking to her today, I was like, 'Yo your name, your nickname is such a good title for something.' And then I just told her today, I was like, you know I did a song called 'Hotline Bling,' that's crazy."

Despite the woman remaining anonymous, "Hotline Bling" became a massive hit, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard in 2015 and winning two Grammy Awards in 2017.
