Kyle and his friends found themselves trapped in a malfunctioning elevator at the Soho House while attending the RDCWorld event kicking off Dream Con.
The group, which included RDCWorld founder Desmond Johnson, was stuck for about an hour, creating a tense situation for everyone involved.
Firefighters quickly responded to the scene, working diligently to free the group from the stifling confines of the elevator.
Video footage shows the responders assisting the group as they climb out of the elevator, with Kyle expressing his gratitude for their help.
"I appreciate y'all," Kyle said as he was led to safety.
The ordeal was particularly harrowing for Kyle's girlfriend, who was visibly upset and sobbing during the incident.
The cramped and overheated conditions inside the elevator added to the discomfort and anxiety.
Despite the stressful situation, the firefighters couldn't help but deliver a stern reminder about elevator safety.
One responder was overheard saying,
"This is why you don't put 16 people on an elevator."
According to the firefighter, the elevator in question was only meant to hold a maximum of five people.
The event serves as a crucial reminder to adhere to posted signage and capacity limits in elevators to avoid similar predicaments.
Kyle and his friends eventually made it to their event, thanks to the swift action of the Austin Fire Department, ensuring the show went on as planned.
