Married At First Sight's 2025 season began filming earlier this month, but one familiar face was notably absent, expert Mel Schilling.
Speculation about her absence ranged from stepping down to focus on her health to other potential reasons.
However, Daily Mail Australia can exclusively reveal that Mel will indeed be returning for another series.
Schilling, 52, is currently in the United Kingdom, finishing the latest UK version of the show. She underwent her final chemotherapy treatment last week amid her battle with colon cancer.
Insiders report that producers and Channel Nine have been extremely supportive, offering her flexibility during the show's demanding schedule.
''The producers have gone above and beyond to ensure she has all the support she needs. They've been very accommodating with her schedule, allowing her to zoom into meetings from London to get to know the participants,'' a source close to the production said.
Although Mel wasn't present at the hen's party alongside fellow experts Alessandra Rampolla and John Aiken, she has been actively involved in the matchmaking process.
''Mel is determined to give 100% and is super happy with all the support she's had from the team,'' the source added.
In December, Mel announced her diagnosis and has since undergone surgery and chemotherapy.
She shared her struggle and resilience in an Instagram post, looking exhausted but positive.
''This is me. Absolutely shattered after a big day on set. Exhausted but satisfied and ready for a huge rest,'' she wrote, ending on a positive note: ''Cancer is tough... but I'm tougher.''
Schilling is expected to return to Sydney later this week to join the filming of the dinner parties, marking her resilient return to the show.
